Welcome to Sprout Kitchen Eats! I’m Julie and I am honored that you stopped in. Here you will find delicious, healthy, whole food recipes using sprouted foods, and vibrant seasonal produce, to create plant-based wholesome meals that are simple and time saving that you will be proud to serve to family and friends. You can find recipes for vegetarians, vegans, raw cuisine, etc.
I am passionate about sprouting! I sprout a multitude of green cruciferous veggies like broccoli, kale, cabbage and cauliflower. I also love to sprout beans, lentils, peas, grains, and of course, microgreens. Sunflower shoots are my favorite. If it can be sprouted you will probably find it my kitchen in one form or another. Many of my recipe inspirations come from what I am currently sprouting. I am fascinated by indoor gardening, so I am always trying new methods, blending different combinations of legumes and greens to add new and interesting, sometimes unique flavors to my work.
If you are a seasoned sprouter, I hope you can find some new and fun recipes here or if you are new to indoor gardening I would love to teach you! I think you too will get hooked once you see all the possibilities.
Another passion of mine is spending time with my foodie husband, Michael, and adult children. Life for us centers on good food and drink. Cooking puts us in our happy place. We love visiting our amazing Saturday farmers market. With fresh seasonal organic produce in hand we then eagerly look forward to planning our menus for the week.
I haven’t always been interested in cooking however. In fact years ago I never even liked it, but luckily my husband did. Then one day he approached me with the idea of opening a restaurant…ugh! 20 year later and two restaurants, I mellowed. As I learned more about the art of cooking, techniques and tricks of the trade, I became more and more interested as I developed an understanding, appreciation and eventual love for this art form. Now I I’m hooked.
I am exciting to share with you, my friends, the beauty and satisfaction that comes from creating a simple wholesome and nourishing meal for you, your family and friends. So, please remember even if you think you have two left thumbs, are stresses out by the thought of having to pull diner together in 20 minutes or have difficulty boiling water, relax, take a deep breath and start slow. I hope that you too can develop a love for cooking, or at least find some recipes you can enjoy!
